As part of her multifaceted Copper project, which includes performance, video, sculpture and installation, Francesca Marti’ has been working on Copper Venus, a monumental figure made from aluminium, steel cord and copper paint. Here, Marti’s sculpture is seen in its first version as a small, painted model in porcelain and cotton thread in her studio in Mallorca, and then at the J.L. Ponce Foundry in Madrid, after it has been cast as a form in aluminium. When finished, the sculpture will be almost three metres tall, weighing more than 250 kilos.
