To coincide with the launch of the 30th edition of Nit de l’Art (Art Night) in Palma de Mallorca on September 19, 2026, Gerhardt Braun Gallery presents Traces of Migration, a solo show of recent works by Francesca Martí.

«We are not separate bodies moving through time, we are fragments of the same energy temporarily taking form.» Francesca Martí
For more than ten years, migration has been one of the central themes in the works of Francesca Martí. In her installations, groups of figures are shown crossing borders and moving across landscapes of enlarged leaves, deconstructed buildings, night-time cities or empty spaces. Her small Believers sculptures are each hand-molded by the artist, or they are cast in aluminium, or represented in her videos as crowds of moving figures.
The ideas of community, togetherness and cosmic energy are keys to Martí’s works currently exhibited as part of Traces of Migration in Palma de Mallorca. Whirlpools of small Believers sculptures are clustered around a central vortex, as if they are being pulled into a central core. Martí refers to these figures as embarking on a «migration into the unknown».
Alternatively, instead of converging, sometimes the massed figures appear as a starburst, launching out from a single attraction point, like a dispersing constellation. Painted in subdued, natural tones – grey, silver, black, white, earthy colours – these figures and landscapes are depicted on canvases, recycled satellite dishes, aluminium panels or directly on the wall.

«The neutral landscapes in which these figures appear are intentionally undefined,» explains the artist. «They exist outside geography and chronology, suggesting a space where past, present and future converge. Within these suspended environments, human beings become traces of one another – fragments of memory carried across generations, cultures and collective consciousness.»
The exhibition also features charcoal drawings, the photographic sculpture Pillar of Memory (2026) and Believer – Earth (2026), a standing figure cast in aluminium with an ash patina.
